The movie is set in the 1700s in what is now do it today as Brazil and Argentina. The main characters be Mandoza who prosecute to capture and sell the autochthonals to wealthy owners. During a battle everywhere a woman, Mandoza kills his brother. After doing this Mandoza then goes into a deep blend on of depression. While all of this is going on a Jesuit missionary, begin Gabriel, is in the hills above the falls gaining the sureness of the primeval people and trying to convert them to Christianity. When Gabriel returns from the falls he is asked to go see Mandoza, who has been in solitaire confinement for round half-dozen months, refusing to see anyone. The Father convinces Mandoza to come with him and assist him in the wanton away of the mission. Mandoza climbs into the hills with the Father and a few others to help them. He does the pronounce ensemble climb, which is up a steep waterfall with what appears to be his armor. When he reaches the top, the natives do not welcome him and threaten to kill him, until the Father assures them that he is okay. The natives then cut the straps of Mandozas armor, as if to forfeit him from his self-abasement and accept his apology. This is a very world hefty scene where it shows Mandoza call and the natives laughing.
The movie goes on to show the sufferance of Mandoza and the others into the native tribe, as they build the mission. During all of this however, there is a great power struggle amid Church and State as the priming coat is being sold from Spain to Portugal. The Portuguese poove wants the tribe to be out of the mis sion so that they substructure enslave them! and happen upon over the land. The movie ends with a fight scene between the natives and the Portuguese army, with the natives losing. All priests and missionarys are utterly and there are only very few native survivors. The movie shows how Christianity was a major moving force in the development of Hesperian civilization.
